A Numerical Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Novel Rectangular Grooved Microchannel with Al2O3/Water Nanofluids

The microchannel heat exchanger is one of the most compact and effective exchangers used for cooling devices in building air conditioning system, while application nanofluids further enhance its thermal performance due to much higher conductivity. Considering continuous rapid increase energy consumption sector, especially systems, transfer a with should be enhanced realize savings. This study analyzes influence combining nanofluid flow disturbance structure on enhancement microchannel, which also noted novelty. A rectangular grooved (RGMC) proposed, using Al2O3/water investigated CFD method, mixture model simulate considering slip velocity between base fluid nanoparticles. results show that at 1.5 m/s, Nu RGMC 2 vol% 38.5% larger than smooth (SMC) same nanofluids, 36.7% pure water, indicating better novel designed structure. maximum temperature 5 K lower SMC inlet m/s. Further analysis integrated effect shows synergy angle β near center line SMC, representing caused by structured induced grooves. Moreover, βα 89.4 Deg, 1.66 Deg value RGMC, 0.25 two types are close each other. indicates groove greater velocity.
